You schedule both, and we take it from there with OnTech. Each box arrives with its own scheduling card, so once both boosters are in your hands you book the two visits back to back, online or by phone, and then give us the dates at 1-888-974-8237.

We pass them to OnTech with a request for the same installer on both, so that one person has seen the whole house before the second booster goes in. OnTech decides who comes, so we ask rather than promise.

The installer does everything a single installation involves and plans for two boosters from the start. The survey comes first, outside with a signal meter, to find the strongest signal and settle which part of the house each booster will cover.

Then the installer mounts the two outside antennas, puts each amplifier near an outlet in the part of the house it serves, and places each inside antenna where that part of the house needs coverage most. The installer supplies, runs, and grounds the cable for both boosters, powers everything up, reads the coverage in both areas before signing off, and moves an antenna if a room comes up short.

None of the physical work falls to you, and that covers everything from the antennas on the roof to the last connector.

Plan on at least a couple of hours for each visit, and on longer when the house makes the work difficult.

With 1 to 2 bars outside one amplifier can only cover about 2,000 square feet, and adding inside antennas to it only divides that coverage between more places. More coverage in a weak signal house comes from a second outside antenna and a second amplifier, which is to say a second booster, and the installer places the two so that each covers its own part of the house.

Yes. Every major US carrier goes through both boosters at once, so a household split across AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular gets its coverage from the same two boosters, and so do the smaller carriers that run on those networks. Any phone or device near either inside antenna is on the boosted signal, and nobody has to pair a device, buy a SIM, or change an account.

The one gap is T-Mobile's 600 MHz band, which consumer boosters are not approved to amplify and which carries a lot of T-Mobile's rural coverage, so if you are a T-Mobile customer in a rural area, a quick call to 1-888-974-8237 before you order lets us check what is available at your address.

It does both, because a booster amplifies the cellular signal itself and your calls, your texts, and your data all travel on it. Phone data, hotspots, and cellular home internet modems get the same boost your calls get.

It does nothing for cable or DSL internet, which come in on a wire, and it will not extend your wifi, because it works on the cellular signal only.

If cellular home internet is one of the reasons you are buying, tell the installer where the modem sits and the installer will place the inside antenna for that part of the house near it.

Metal does keep signal out of the rooms underneath it, so the area each booster covers is smaller than in a wood frame house, which is exactly why a long metal building or mobile home does well with two boosters covering different parts of it.

In most two story homes we recommend a panel antenna in the attic above each half of the house, aimed down, so that each booster reaches upstairs and downstairs rather than covering a single floor. A panel broadcasts forward, which is why one placed overhead reaches more of a home than one mounted lower on a wall.

The survey has the final say, because the installer reads the signal outside, sees how much space there is above your ceilings, and puts each antenna where it will do the most good. In a home with no attic, that may mean the upstairs ceiling or one panel per level, and whichever way it goes, the installer checks the rooms on both floors before leaving.
