If your machine already has an antenna spring on it or an open whip light mount hole, the antenna mounts to that and the clamp stays in the box. If you're not sure what you have, call us with the make and model and we'll sort it out before you order.

More often than you would expect. The phone is reading what reaches it down in the cab, and the antenna standing above the cage receives signal the phone cannot. When there is any usable signal in the air, the amplifier boosts it to a level the phone can work with.

Where there is truly nothing to receive, a booster has nothing to boost. Those places are rarer than the phone makes them look, and the 90 day return window is there so you can find out on your own ground.

Only if it won't clear. With the mast on, the antenna stands high enough over the cage that a low garage door, a trailer with a roof, or branches on a tight trail can catch it, which is what the spring under the antenna is for on the trail and what the quick release is for everywhere else.

Pull the collar and the antenna lifts off the mount, and if you want it off the machine altogether, the cable unscrews at the connector below the antenna. It goes back on with the same pull. The system needs the antenna upright to run properly, so it is on or off, never folded down.

Yes. The amplifier lives inside an enclosure rated IP66, which keeps dust out entirely and stands up to heavy spray, and the cable glands seal around the cables once you tighten them by hand.

The enclosure is not built to sit under water, so keep it out of the creek, and keep a pressure washer's wand back from the glands rather than driving it straight at them. Otherwise wash the machine the way you always have.

Only on a machine that keeps the 12 volt outlet live after the key comes out, and only if you let it. The booster draws its power from that outlet, so your phone's battery never comes into it.

If your outlet stays powered and the machine will sit for more than a day, the switch on the cord shuts the booster down so nothing keeps drawing. If the outlet only has power with the key on, there is nothing to think about, because the booster goes off when the machine does.

Yes. The cleanest way is a switched accessory circuit, so the booster comes on and goes off with the key and never touches the battery while the machine sits. Check your owner's manual for the accessory power points, since they vary by make and model.

There is a Rocker Switch Hardwire Kit built for this booster that replaces the plug with a fused connection and a switch on the dash. We do not stock that part today, so call before you order and we can tell you where it stands.

Within 36 inches, and closer is better. Mount the inside antenna on the dash or the side of the seat, as near to where your phone rides as you can, and keep it at least 8 inches from anyone in the cab.

How far the boosted signal reaches depends on the signal outside. With strong signal outside it fills the cab, with a moderate signal it reaches a few feet from the inside antenna, and with a weak signal about 18 inches. A phone in a mount on the dash right next to the inside antenna gets the most out of it.

It helps the maps, not the GPS itself. Your position comes from satellites and the booster does nothing to that, but the map, the route, and the traffic all load over cellular data, and that data is what the booster improves.

Your position comes from the satellites either way. What changes is that the map around it keeps loading when you leave good coverage behind.

No. It boosts the cellular signal your phone uses for calls, texts, and mobile data. It does nothing for Wi-Fi or for satellite internet, and it does not create a hotspot.

If you carry a cellular hotspot on the machine, that gets the same boost your phone does. Keep it near the inside antenna the same way.

It covers the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Most European, Asian, and African networks run on different frequencies, so it will not help you there.

The boost is the same on all three. Every one of them runs the same 50 dB amplifier, and 50 dB is the ceiling the FCC sets for a booster that covers every carrier at once in a vehicle. The antenna is where they separate. The SxS carries the same antenna the Overland does, and that antenna is a stronger one than the Drive Reach's, so it receives from towers that are further off and the amplifier has more signal to boost. Against the Overland, the SxS is an even match on both counts.

What the SxS adds is the packaging around all of that: an enclosure that keeps dust and water off the amplifier, and a roll cage clamp with a quick release so the antenna has somewhere to mount on a machine with no roof to speak of. If the booster is going on a pickup or a rig with a roof rack, look at the Work Truck, the Drive Reach, or the Overland instead.
