How to Choose the Right Antennas for Your Booster
Outside Antennas:
- Yagi Directional Antenna: This antenna is more powerful because it focuses on sending and receiving signals in one direction. It works best when there are no major obstacles blocking its path to the cell tower. It's not ideal for areas with large obstructions like hills or buildings.
- Omni Antenna: This antenna sends and receives in all directions, so it's better for hilly areas or if you need to support multiple carriers with towers in different directions. It doesn’t need to be aimed, but it also isn’t as strong as the Yagi antenna.
- High Gain LPDA Antenna: Perfect for areas with very weak signals, this antenna significantly boosts signal strength. It needs a clear line of sight to the cell tower and requires a sturdy mount because of its size.
Inside Antennas:
- Panel Antenna: Can be placed on walls or ceilings and directs the signal towards a specific area. This antenna is great for homes and tall ceilings in buildings.
- Standard Dome Antenna: Designed to mounted on the ceiling, this antenna spreads the signal evenly throughout the area. It's best suited for drop ceilings or spaces where cables can be run above the ceiling.
- Ultra-Thin Dome Antenna: This slim antenna also mounts to the ceiling, but is much is less noticeable. It's much stronger than a standard dome antenna, making it a great choice for places where both looks and signal strength are important.
Tips for Choosing:
- Choose Omni Antennas for general coverage with no aiming required.
- Choose Directional Antennas (Yagi or LPDA) when you can point directly at a cell tower and need stronger signal and more inside coverage.
- Interior Size Considerations: One antenna per 750-1,500 sq ft in homes, or 1,500-2,500 sq ft in open spaces like offices and warehouses.

The weBoost Drive Reach Overland Signal Booster (SKU 472061) is the best solution for anyone who needs the most powerful signal boosting setup and are able to mount a large, external antenna on their vehicle.
The Overland booster introduces a revolutionary outside antenna mount with a number of different mounting options, including T-Track, piping, and bolting to vehicle. It can also fold down for situations where you have low clearance and need the outside antenna to lay flat against the vehicle.
Paired with the powerful outside antenna is the industry-leading weBoost Drive Reach amplifier, which is one of the most powerful multi-carrier vehicle amplifiers on the market. If the outside antenna is able to receive any signal at all, then the Drive Reach amplifier can boost it up to a usable level.
The Drive Reach Overland includes a small, omnidirectional internal antenna to provide boosted signal to the inside of the vehicle. This can be upgraded to a desktop antenna for additional coverage and mounting options. In addition, you can upgrade the mast length of the outside antenna from 13" to 18", as well as purchase a longer cable (18' instead of 14') for the run from the outside antenna to the amplifier.
The Drive Reach Overland has been designed for rugged use in the most remote areas possible, so if you find yourself in rough terrain and extremely far from the nearest cell tower, then this is the solution for you.
Why the Drive Reach Overland is Perfect for Overlanders
- Flexible Antenna Mounting: Easily mount the external antenna on T-Tracks, pipes, or directly onto your overland truck. It's designed to fold down for low-clearance situations.
- Maximum Signal Boost: Enjoy the strongest signal boost approved by the FCC, pulling in weak signals for the best coverage in remote areas.
- Powerful Connection Far and Wide: Stay connected to distant cell towers thanks to the booster's superior uplink and downlink capabilities, crucial for off-path exploring.
- Wireless for Easy Use: Improve your phone's signal automatically without needing any physical connection to the booster.
- Universal Carrier Support: Compatible with all major U.S. carriers, the booster supports every phone in your vehicle, regardless of the network.
- All-in-One Kit: The kit includes everything you need to enhance your signal, eliminating the need for extra parts.

Recommended For
The Drive Reach Overland Signal Booster is the ideal solution for anyone who travels in very rural areas and needs a rugged solution that provides the best boosting possible. This booster was designed for the overland enthusiast who needs the most powerful mobile solution available and can withstand weeks traveling through the rural wilderness, but it's also ideal for heavy-duty trucks and work vehicles that need great boosting as well.
How it Works
The Drive Reach Overland works by mounting the included outside antenna on the vehicle using the overland mount and running a cable into the vehicle to the signal amplifier. The outside antenna receives the outside cell signal and passes it over the cable to the amplifier, which boosts the cell signal and then sends it over another cable to the included low-profile inside antenna, which broadcasts the boosted signal to the area of the vehicle that needs better signal.
The entire process also works in reverse, so you get a strong and reliable connection back to the distant, land-based cell towers.
Estimated Inside Coverage
The strength of your existing outside signal, measured in the location where you plan to mount the outside antenna, has a direct impact on the amount of inside coverage you'll get from a signal booster. The table below shows how much coverage you may get depending on your outside signal strength:
Existing Outside Signal Strength | Estimated Inside Coverage |
---|---|
Strong (5 Bars) | Up to 6 feet from the inside antenna |
Medium (3-4 Bars) | A few feet from the inside antenna |
Weak (1-2 Bars) | 18 inches from the inside antenna |
None (0 Bars) | No Coverage |
Please Note: Many factors impact the size of the inside coverage area, so actual results may vary from these estimates.
Will this Work for my Phone and Carrier?
The Drive Reach Overland Signal Booster is compatible with all cell phones and all carriers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, as well as carriers from some other countries in Latin America, South America, and Australia.
