The Office 200 works by receiving the existing cell signal from nearby towers, amplifying it, and then broadcasting it throughout the building for better connectivity. Outside Antenna Options

The outside antenna is what receives signal from the tower, so choosing the right one decides how much the rest of the system has to work with. Here's an overview to help you choose the right outside antenna option:

  • Yagi Directional Antenna: Great for areas where you have a weak existing outside signal. With 10 dB of gain, it's second in power only to the LPDA and it offers a 75 degree view of the horizon so you don't have to be pinpoint accurate when aiming it.
  • Omni Antenna: A good choice for areas with hilly or mountainous terrain and there's no clear line of sight to a cell tower. Provides 4 dB of gain and sends and receives signal in all directions, so it can still work with bouncing or reflected signals. Will provide the least amount of inside coverage, but is the only antenna that can handle fluctuating or bouncing signal.
  • High-Gain Omni Antenna: For situations where you want the flexibility of an omni but with more power. Provides up to 9 dB of gain depending on the frequency, offering a major upgrade in performance over the standard omni. Best when signals come from multiple directions and the standard omni doesn't provide enough inside coverage.
  • High-Gain LPDA Antenna: Designed for remote locations with very weak existing signal. It offers 11 to 13 dB of gain (making it the strongest of the four) but requires direct line of sight to the distant cell tower for best performance. It's the hardest to aim because it's so precise, but it will give you the most coverage once you have it dialed in.

Inside Antenna Options

The makeup of your ceilings and structure of your building will determine what inside antennas you need. Here's an overview to help you choose the right type and number of inside antennas.

  • Panel Antenna: This is a directional antenna that mounts to a wall, ceiling or floor and focuses signal in one direction. It's great for targeting specific areas or covering multiple floors. It offers higher gain (7-10 dBi) than dome antennas and works well for multi-story homes, long narrow spaces, or locations with high ceilings.
  • Standard Dome Antenna: A ceiling-mounted antenna that broadcasts signal in all directions. It's a good option for spaces with drop ceilings where cables can be run above the tiles. With an average gain of 2-5 dBi, it's an economical choice.
  • Ultra-Thin Dome Antenna: A sleek, low-profile version of the standard dome, designed for spaces where aesthetics and performance matter. It delivers more power (4-6 dBi) and is ideal for spaces where the antenna needs to blend seamlessly with the ceiling. The cables need to be run above the ceiling for the ultra-thin dome as well.

How Many Inside Antennas do You Need?

For most spaces with walls, one antenna typically covers 750 to 1,500 square feet, while in larger, open areas without walls, an antenna can cover 1,500 to 2,500 square feet. Use this as a basis for determining the number of antennas you need.

What the Installation Process Involves

Here's an overview of how to install the Office 200 so you can understand what is involved. Contact us if you'd like to discuss your specific building and how to perform the installation there.

Pro Tip - Do a soft install first: Run everything loosely, power on the system, and walk the building to check coverage. If it looks good, then mount everything permanently. If there are dead spots still, then you'll likely need to move antennas and walk the space again.

Mount the outside antenna on the roof

The outside antenna is usually mounted on the roof of the building, so plan for a ladder and safe roof access. Pole, wall, and non-penetrating roof mounts are all options, so you'll have to decide which is the best mounting option based on your roof style. Each antenna ships with its mounting bracket, and pole and specialty mounts are sold separately.

Prior to installing the antenna, you should determine which side of the building gets the best signal and locate the mount there, then aim the antenna towards the nearby cell towers.

Run the coax cable inside

If you have an existing cable pathway into the building, then use that, otherwise, you may need to drill one small sealed entry point (confirm that this does not void your roof warranty first) and route the cable inside the building to the amplifier. The 400-series cable is outdoor rated, and the shortest clean route wins, as every extra foot results in lost signal, so efficient cable runs are important. If you need a longer run, cables up to 100 ft are available, and past that our team can spec higher-grade cable with less signal loss.

Add conduit anywhere the run is exposed to weather or foot traffic.

Mount the amplifier

The amplifier hangs on a wall in a protected area, like a utility room or IT closet. It's powered by a standard wall outlet. Make sure there are cable pathways from the roof and to each area that you need to mount inside antennas.

Connect the cable from the outside antenna to the lightning protector and then the external antenna cable port on the amp.

Run coax cable and mount the inside antennas

Run coax cable from the amplifier to each of the antenna locations and then mount the antenna in the designated spots. You'll need to use a cable splitter (included) off of the amplifier if you have more than one inside antenna.

Power on the system

Once everything is installed, power on the system and check the coverage in the space. If you're happy with the performance, then you're done, but if there are still coverage gaps, then you'll need to troubleshoot. Call us for assistance with that.

What it takes. A drill, a ladder, and a good block of time. The work is mounting, cable routing, and plugging in rather than anything electrical, so any low-voltage or facilities contractor can handle it.

You are not on your own. Our team walks you or your installer through placement and aiming over the phone, and that is the part that decides how well it performs.

If you rent, roof work will need the landlord to sign off, so get that approved before moving forward with a system.

FAQ

How much of my building will the Office 200 cover?

Coverage comes down to two things: the strength of the signal outside your building, and how broken up the space is inside. Walls shorten the reach of every inside antenna, so an open warehouse covers more than an office suite with the same setup.

With a strong outside signal, about five bars at the antenna, here is what each configuration covers:

  • 1 inside antenna: up to 8,000 sq ft in open space, or up to 5,000 sq ft in a walled office
  • 2 inside antennas: up to 13,000 sq ft open, or up to 8,000 sq ft office
  • 3 inside antennas: up to 17,000 sq ft open, or up to 10,000 sq ft office
  • 4 inside antennas: up to 20,000 sq ft open, or up to 12,000 sq ft office

With a weak outside signal, about one bar at the antenna, here is what each configuration covers:

  • 1 inside antenna: up to 2,500 sq ft in open space, or up to 15,00 sq ft in a walled office
  • 2 inside antennas: up to 3,500 sq ft open, or up to 2,000 sq ft office
  • 3 inside antennas: Not recommended

These numbers assume a Yagi or High-Gain Omni outside antenna, and a standard Omni covers less. A moderate signal, three to four bars, covers less at every count. A weak signal, one to two bars, drops the numbers further and cannot be split across three or four antennas at all, which is why the coverage tables on this page mark those builds as not recommended.

How do I figure out which configuration I need?

Three choices define your configuration: the outside antenna, the type of inside antennas, and how many inside antennas. You can work through all three right on this page.

Start with the outside antenna, which comes down to the signal at your building:

  • Decent signal, or towers in more than one direction: the Omni or High-Gain Omni receives from every direction and needs no aiming.
  • Weak signal that comes mostly from one direction: the Yagi points at the tower and pulls in more than an omni can.
  • Very weak signal in a remote location: the High-Gain LPDA is the strongest of the four. It needs careful aiming and a clear line to the tower, but it reaches the farthest.

Then pick the inside antenna type for your layout:

  • Dome or Ultra-Thin Dome: mounts to the ceiling and broadcasts in a circle around it. Best for open areas and spaces with drop ceilings.
  • Panel: aims in one direction. Best for long hallways, targeting one problem area, or covering multiple floors from above.

Then count your zones. Each inside antenna covers its own area, usually one per floor or major zone, and the coverage tables above show how far each count reaches at your signal strength.

Will the Office 200 work in a metal, steel, or concrete building, or a basement?

Yes. Those are exactly the buildings this system is built for.

Metal siding, steel framing, concrete walls, and below-grade space all block cell signal from getting inside, which is why your phone struggles even when the signal is fine outdoors. The Office 200 gets around that instead of through it. The outside antenna receives the signal up on the roof where reception is strongest, the amplifier boosts it, and the inside antennas broadcast it on the inside of the walls that were blocking it.

The harder the building, the more antenna placement and antenna choice matter. A metal shop or a basement office is a good reason to have us design the configuration with you rather than guess at it.

The one thing no booster can do is work with signal that was never there, which is the next question.

What if I have little or no signal outside?

What comes with the Office 200?

Every configuration ships complete. Depending on the antennas you choose, the box holds:

The 400-series cable matters more than it sounds. It is thicker and loses far less signal per foot than the thin cable in consumer systems, so more of the amplifier's output actually reaches your antennas.

Is this the 50-Ohm or the 75-Ohm version, and does it matter?

This page is the 50-Ohm version, part number 472047. It uses N-connectors and 400-series cable, which lose less signal over long runs, and that is why we point most commercial self-installs here, especially larger buildings and multi-floor runs.

There is also a 75-Ohm version, part number 471047, which uses F-connectors and RG-style cable. It can make sense when your building already has RG6 runs you want to reuse.

The two are not interchangeable piece by piece, since the connectors and cable families differ, so it is worth landing on the right one before you order. If you are not sure which fits your building, that is a five-minute phone call.

How long is the included cable, and can I run it farther?

The system includes a 75 ft run of 400-series cable for the outside antenna and a 60 ft run for each inside antenna, which covers most buildings.

If a run needs to go farther, longer cables up to 100 ft are available. Past that, we can spec a higher-grade cable with less loss per foot, built for long runs in bigger buildings.

Keep in mind that longer is not automatically better with coax, because every foot costs a little signal. Sometimes the smarter fix is repositioning the amplifier or placing an inside antenna closer to the far area instead of stretching one long run. Tell us the distances you are working with and we will make sure the cable and the layout actually reach.

Can I add more inside antennas later?

Yes. The amplifier supports up to four inside antennas, so if you start with one or two, there is room to grow into a new floor, an addition, or a back area the first layout did not reach.

Adding one takes the splitter, a cable run, and the antenna itself, and we will spec those so they fit the system you already own. Nothing you bought gets replaced.

If you already know you will need the larger footprint, tell us up front and we will design for the full space from the start. It is usually cheaper than building it in two passes. Four antennas is the amplifier's ceiling, so a building that needs more than a full four-antenna build can cover is a conversation about a second system, and we will tell you if that is where you are headed.

What's the difference between the Office 200 and the Office 300?

The amplifier is the same. The difference is who does the work and which antennas come with it.

The Office 200 is the self-install path. You pick the configuration that fits your building, you or your contractor handle the mounting and cable runs, and our phone support stays with you through placement and aiming.

What's the difference between the Office 100 and the Office 200?

The most visible difference is the LCD display on the Office 200's amplifier.

The 200 also has the bigger top end. With a strong outside signal it covers up to 20,000 sq ft at four inside antennas, against 16,000 for the Office 100.

Does the Office 200 work with all carriers at the same time? Is it 4G or 5G?

Yes, it boosts every major US carrier at once: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and the regional networks. Nothing gets paired or set up per phone, and anything with a cellular radio near the inside antennas rides the boosted signal, including phones, tablets, hotspots, alarm panels, and card readers.

It boosts 4G LTE and 5G together, because carriers run much of their 5G service on the same frequency bands this system amplifies. A new 5G phone benefits right alongside older devices.

One honest caveat applies to deep-rural T-Mobile users. Some of T-Mobile's rural coverage rides the 600 MHz band, which no booster in this class amplifies, because it is not one of the FCC-approved booster bands. Do I need my carrier's permission to use it?

How is this different from a carrier's femtocell or network extender?

They solve the problem in opposite ways.

  • The Office 200 amplifies the real signal from the tower. It works for every carrier at once, needs no internet connection, has no monthly fee, and you own it outright.
  • A femtocell creates a small private cell for one carrier only, and it runs on your wired internet. If the internet goes down, so does your signal, other carriers' phones get nothing, and many carrier units add a monthly fee.

The one honest exception is a building with no usable outside signal at all. A femtocell runs off your internet instead of the tower, so that is the single situation where it can do something a booster cannot.
