Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does it work with our carrier?

Yes. It boosts every major US carrier at the same time. That covers Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and US Cellular, along with the smaller networks that run on them. A fleet split across three carriers works off the same booster in every vehicle.

Will it work where there is no signal at all?

No. A booster amplifies signal that is already there, so it needs at least a faint one outside to work with. Where a phone shows no service at all, there is nothing for it to amplify.

Who installs it?

A professional installer, and it is not us. weBoost calls for a professional installation because the roof has to be drilled and the power supply has to be wired into the vehicle. We sell the equipment and we do not install vehicles, so the installer is yours to arrange.

Will it help our GPS trackers and ELDs?

It boosts them the same way it boosts a phone. weBoost's specification sheet says the Drive X Fleet boosts signal strength for cellular based fleet tracking devices so managers can track vehicles in weak signal areas. It is a signal problem it solves, not a logging or reporting one.

Does every booster have to be registered?

Yes. The major US carriers have given blanket consent for boosters certified to current FCC standards, and this one is certified, so registering is a short form on the carrier's own site rather than an approval you wait on.

Will it drain the battery?

It can, depending on how it is wired. weBoost's guide runs this power supply to the battery leads themselves and warns that a direct battery connection may drain the battery over time. The guide's own alternative is a fuse tap in the fuse box, which shuts the booster off with the ignition, and that is the wiring to ask the installer for.

Can we move it to another vehicle later?

Not easily. The antenna mount is sealed into a hole in the roof and the power supply is wired in, so moving it means a second install and a hole left behind in the first vehicle. If the vehicles are leased or you expect to move boosters around, the Drive Reach Flex Fleet is the same amplifier on a magnet mount.

How is this different from the Drive Reach Fleet?

It uses a different, smaller amplifier. weBoost's installation guides list this one as model 460021 at 0.77 pounds and the Drive Reach Fleet's as model 460061 at 1.80 pounds. Both hit the same 50 dB of gain and both go into the vehicle the same way, so the Drive X Fleet costs less because of the amplifier, not because of the install.

What is the warranty on a company vehicle?

Two years on the hardware, and the warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials. Returns here run 90 days.

Why buy this here instead of a marketplace?

The booster is identical either way, because weBoost makes it and every seller ships the same box. What changes is who quotes the order, who fills out your vendor forms, and who picks up the phone when the installer has a question in the middle of the job.
