Introducing the Drive Reach Fleet

Your vehicles run the same roads week after week, and somewhere along them the signal gives out. A dispatch call goes to voicemail, the next stop won't come up, and the office has no word from a vehicle until it is back in coverage. You already know where those spots are on your own routes, and what they do to a day's work.

The Drive Reach Fleet is a cell signal booster built to go into a fleet vehicle once and stay there for the life of the vehicle. An installer drills a single hole in the roof, seals the antenna mount into it, runs the cable out of sight under the headliner, and wires the power supply into the vehicle's fuse box, so there is no cord running to a 12 volt outlet and no loose piece for a driver to catch. After that a driver has nothing to set up and nothing to touch. It is part of the vehicle.

Calls between dispatch and the vehicle hold together out where they used to fall apart, the next stop loads before the driver leaves the last one, and the tablets and the tracking units are running on the same boosted signal as the phones. At the office, most days you can get a driver on the phone when you need to instead of waiting for the vehicle to come back into coverage.

This system is built to stay in the vehicle it goes into. The mount seals into the roof, so putting the booster in a different vehicle later means paying an installer twice, and the first vehicle is left with the hole. On a vehicle you plan to keep, that is exactly what you want. It goes in once, and then it works every day the vehicle does. The booster also works in reverse. The inside antenna receives signal from the devices in the vehicle, the amp boosts it up, and then the outside antenna broadcasts the strong signal back to the distant cell towers. This gives you a strong, reliable two-way connection to the cell tower.

How the Installation Process Works

This one needs a professional installer, because it means drilling the roof and wiring the power supply into the vehicle. The steps below are what that install involves.

The Antenna Spot and the Entry Hole

The NMO antenna goes near the center of the roof, at least 12 inches from any other antenna and at least 12 inches from any window or sunroof. The installer tapes the spot, cuts a three quarter inch hole with a hole saw, and does a soft install through an open door first to confirm the location works before anything is cut.

The NMO Mount in the Roof

The mounting cable drops through the hole connector end first, then the collar screws down to the base with the included silicone grease on the o-ring so the opening is sealed. The antenna threads onto the mount and is hand tightened until the o-ring touches the vehicle.

The Cable Under the Headliner

The cable goes under the headliner and down through the side trim panel to the amplifier, which sits on the floor of the vehicle. The included bracket fastens the amplifier once it is in place.

The Inside Antenna Where the Phone Rides

It goes on the dash or the side of the seat, on the included Velcro or adhesive strip, between 18 and 36 inches from where the phone will actually be. In a weak signal area the short end of that range is the one to use. It has to stay at least 8 inches from any person.

Power to a Switched Fuse

The supply runs to the fuse box through the included in-line fuse and a fuse tap, with the negative lead under the bolt on a factory grounding point. The fuse tap goes on an ignition-switched slot so the booster stops drawing power once the vehicle is off. Both antenna cables go on the amplifier before the power does.

Does it work with our carrier?

Yes. It boosts every major US carrier at the same time. That covers Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and US Cellular, along with the smaller networks that run on them. A fleet split across three carriers works off the same booster in every vehicle.
Will it work where there is no signal at all?

Usually, yes. What reads as dead from the driver's seat is often a weak signal the phone cannot use on its own, and a phone gives up on a weak signal before the signal is actually gone. The antenna up on the roof receives it, and the amplifier turns it into bars a driver can use. Where a stretch truly has no signal at all, the booster has nothing to work with.
Who installs it?

An installer you arrange. The booster requires professional installation because the roof has to be drilled and the power supply wires into the vehicle. We sell the equipment, and the install itself is yours to schedule.
Will it help our GPS trackers and ELDs?

It boosts them the same way it boosts a phone. A GPS tracker or ELD reports over the cellular network, so it rides the same boosted signal and keeps reporting through weak signal stretches instead of dropping out. The problem it solves is signal, not logging or reporting.
Does every booster have to be registered?

Yes. The major US carriers have given blanket consent for boosters certified to current FCC standards, and this one is certified, so registering is a short form on the carrier's own site rather than an approval you wait on.
Will it drain the batteries?

Not if the installer wires it to an ignition-switched fuse, which is how it should go in. Wired that way the booster has power while the vehicle is running and none while it sits.
Can we move it to another vehicle later?

Not easily. The antenna mount is sealed into a hole in the roof and the power supply is wired in, so moving it means a second install and a hole left behind in the first vehicle. If the vehicles are leased or you expect to move boosters around, the Drive Reach Flex Fleet is the same amplifier on a magnet mount.
Is this different from the Drive Reach we already run in cars?

The amplifier is the same unit, the Drive Reach, model 460061. What changes is the antenna and its mount, which are permanent here, and the power, which is wired in rather than plugged into the 12 volt outlet.
What is the warranty on a company vehicle?

Two years on the hardware, and the warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials. Returns with us are 90 days.
