The lightning protector has a gas discharge element that breaks the connection to the amplifier if a surge comes down from the outside antenna.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach outside antenna comes with hardware for mounting to a pole. Anyone who is a bit handy can do it. Plan both systems before you touch anything. Decide which part of the house each booster will cover, then pick an outside antenna location and an inside antenna location for each one. Do a soft install of both boosters, with nothing mounted for good and no holes drilled, so you can prove the placement first. Follow these steps:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWalk the outside of the house and find the side with the strongest signal. Mount both outside antennas up high on that side with some space between them, and point both at that strongest signal.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eRun each outside antenna cable into the house and connect it to its own amplifier. Put a lightning protector in line if you use one, and give each amplifier a wall outlet.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eRun each inside antenna cable to the part of the house that booster will cover and mount the panel antenna as far from the two outside antennas as the layout allows.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePower up one booster at a time and check the lights, then aim each outside antenna while someone inside watches the bars in the area that booster covers.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf an amplifier shows a red light, an inside antenna is usually too near one of the outside antennas.
